Elite Restoration recently completed mould remediation work in Richmond, Tasmania (7025), with 8 rooms documented across the job. The work was carried out in September 2026 and recorded with photographs taken at each stage.

For a job of this kind, remediation starts with containment. Plastic sheeting is taped off to stop spores moving into clean areas, and affected materials are assessed before anything is removed. Where mould has grown into wall cavities, the lining is stripped back so the framing, timber and services behind it can be inspected properly. In this job, a wall cavity was opened up to expose copper pipes and timber framing, and treatment was applied by hand to the affected surfaces.
Moisture readings are part of the process. A technician used a meter probe against a timber stud beside a sink’s plumbing to check whether the timber was still wet. Materials are not cleared until readings show they are dry, because mould returns quickly where moisture remains. Once the cavity was treated, drying equipment was set up to bring the tiled floor back to a stable moisture level. Blue air movers and yellow extraction equipment with hoses ran behind taped plastic sheeting while the space dried.

The work follows IICRC S520, the industry standard for mould remediation, and the drying stage is set up with the same care expected under IICRC S500 for water-related damage. Elite Restoration is an IICRC Certified Firm, and the technicians on this job are trained in applied microbial remediation and structural drying.
Mould growth in a home is often hidden behind linings, under flooring and inside wall cavities, so it can be well established before anyone sees it. Eight rooms is a substantial area to document and clear. Careful containment, thorough drying and proper documentation protect the building and the people living in it, and they give the owner a clear record of what was done. Residents in Richmond and surrounding areas who notice signs of dampness or staining should have them looked at early, before the problem spreads.
