Mould Policy: Inspection First (IICRC S520)

Mould remediation is never a simple clean. Under the IICRC S520 Standard for Professional Mould Remediation, treating mould without a proper inspection risks missing the underlying moisture source and leads to recurrence. Every mould job starts with a professional inspection by S520-certified technicians, so containment, controls and the remediation scope are set correctly from day one.

Inspection from $350 inc. GST. Remediation is scoped and quoted separately, only after the inspection.

We work in line with IICRC S520. The inspection comes first: what’s wet, how far it’s spread, and the source. Sample testing goes through NATA-accredited laboratory partners where it’s needed. Next, the area is contained, damaged materials come out, an antimicrobial goes on what remains, and drying begins. Live onsite reporting means you see the scope and progress as it happens, and a completion report follows within 24 to 48 hours.

Why Sydney homes grow mould again and again

Damp walls and poor airflow are a common starting point, and older homes can have plenty of both. Units with shared plumbing pick up leaks from above. When the visible growth is cleaned and the leak or damp stays, the mould simply comes back. A recent July 2026 job in Gosford, where water damage from an overflowing hot water system required full remediation in a kitchen and dining area, shows how far one leak can go.

Do you cover Campbelltown and Penrith as well as the CBD?

Yes. Our Sydney branch in Seven Hills is 26.6 km from this area, and the run reaches Campbelltown, Camden, Glenmore Park, Blacktown and Hornsby as well as the inner suburbs. In metro Sydney the target is to be on site within 2 hours of an emergency call.

Can I stay in the unit during the work?

Usually, yes. The contained area is off limits until it is dry, and the rest of the home stays in use. Drying is checked on alternate days.

Is testing included?

Where testing would change the scope, samples go to NATA-accredited laboratory partners. The inspection and the initial report within 24 hours come first.

The water came from the unit above. What happens?

The inspection traces the source and how far the water has gone, the area is contained, and where the event is insured we liaise with your insurer. In August 2026 we remediated a property in Surry Hills.
