In October 2026 our team documented 13 rooms affected by water damage in Buddina QLD 4575. The work followed the IICRC S500 standard for water damage restoration, which sets out how a property should be assessed, dried and checked before it is returned to use.

The first stage is assessment. Technicians record moisture readings across each room, including wall cavities, skirting and subfloor areas, so the extent of the water is mapped rather than guessed. The photos from this job show what that looks like in practice: a pale powdery residue and staining along the base of a wall on timber floorboards, which is a common sign that moisture has been sitting in a structure for some time. Materials that have taken on water are identified and separated from those that can be dried in place.
Drying is where most of the time goes. Air movers and dehumidifiers are placed to move moisture out of the materials and the air, and readings are taken to confirm progress. Loose or saturated items are removed from the work area. In this job that included a stained mattress that had been leaning against a window on a timber floor, along with scattered debris. Flooring with lifted patches of adhesive, and a mesh basket of plastic hangers left beside a wood-look floor, were also dealt with as part of clearing the rooms for drying.

At each stage the findings are recorded and reported. Where insurance is involved, we liaise with the insurer on the claim and keep the documentation in order for the file.
For people in Buddina and the surrounding area, water damage is easy to underestimate. Water that soaks into flooring, walls or subfloor can keep causing problems long after the surface looks dry, and it can affect the air quality inside the home. Having the affected rooms assessed and dried properly, in a documented way, is what helps a home get back to normal with fewer surprises later on.
