Mould removal in Cairns, done to the standard, is remediation: find the moisture source, contain the area, remove material that can’t be cleaned, treat what stays, and dry the structure. Wiping the visible growth away without those steps tends to buy a few weeks, not a fix.
You don’t need a specialist for every spot. Light growth on a hard surface can usually be cleaned. Call for an inspection when the mould is spreading, sits inside plasterboard or carpet, came after a leak, or is in a home with someone who has asthma or allergies.

“We had a pipe burst in our ceiling, water seeped into our walls and our unit was at a very high risk for mould :( Guosheng worked tirelessly to ensure the drying process went as smooth as possible, even working until the evening on a Friday to ensure our walls would be dry and safe over the weekend! An extremely proficient and productive company that thrives on providing excellent service and quality work. Thank you so much for all of your help! <3”
“Guosheng from Elite Restoration did an amazing job dealing with the water damage to my unit, due to a burst pipe. Nothing was too hard and Guosheng had multiple tricks up his sleeve to ensure maximum drying capacity. The communication throughout the whole process was excellent, which made this very stressful situation for me a lot easier to handle. Thanks so much Guosheng.☺️”
Mould remediation is never a simple clean. Under the
IICRC S520 Standard for Professional Mould Remediation,
treating mould without a proper inspection risks missing the underlying
moisture source and leads to recurrence. Every mould job starts with a
professional inspection by S520-certified technicians, so containment,
controls and the remediation scope are set correctly from day one.
Inspection from $350 inc. GST. Remediation is scoped and
quoted separately, only after the inspection.
Find the cause — identify the moisture source so remediation actually holds.
Set containment — protect unaffected areas during the work.
Clear scope & documentation — written report you can give insurers or strata managers.
Want to know exactly what you’ll receive? Download a real example of the
written report our S520-certified technicians produce after a mould
inspection — findings, moisture readings, photos and the recommended
remediation scope.
Inspect the affected rooms and trace the moisture source.
Seal off the work area so spores stay contained.
Take out porous material that can’t be saved.
Treat remaining surfaces with an antimicrobial.
Dry the structure, with monitoring on alternate days.
Confirm the result and send a completion report within 24 to 48 hours.
An initial report and a scope or quote arrive within 24 hours of the inspection, so you can see what’s planned. Emergency mitigation call-outs are available 24/7, 365 days a year if a leak is still running.
In a customer’s words
Nicole Martin left this Google review after a burst pipe in her unit:
“The communication throughout the whole process was excellent, which made this very stressful situation for me a lot easier to handle.”
Water damage left wet for long is where most mould jobs begin, which is why fast, well-explained drying matters.
The standard behind the work
We don’t sell a guarantee we can’t define. What we can tell you is the standard: remediation is carried out in line with IICRC S520, Elite Restoration is an IICRC Certified Firm (certificate 70100265), and the business carries $20 million public and products liability cover. You receive written reports at the start and the end, so the result is documented, not just promised.
Mould questions answered
Is the mould in my home dangerous?
Small amounts on a hard surface are usually a cleaning issue. Widespread growth, or mould affecting someone with asthma, allergies or a weakened immune system, is a health matter and worth having inspected.
Can I clean it myself?
On tiles, glass or sealed surfaces, often yes. If it’s in plasterboard, insulation or carpet, or it returns after cleaning, the material and the moisture need dealing with.
Is it covered by insurance?
That depends on your policy and the cause. We liaise with your insurer on a claim and supply the reports and scope.
What does it cost?
The cost is set after the inspection, once the area and the materials involved are known. You’ll have a scope or quote before work begins.
